Ingredients:
•1 lb ground beef
•1 small onion, finely chopped
•1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
•2 cloves garlic, minced
•1 cup tomato sauce
•½ cup ketchup
•1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
•1 tsp mustard
•1 tsp brown sugar
•½ tsp salt
•½ tsp black pepper
•8 slices frozen Texas toast (garlic or buttered variety)
•1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
1. Cook the Meat Mixture
•In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until beef is browned and veggies are soft. Drain excess grease.
•Add garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
2. Make the Sloppy Joe Sauce
• Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
•Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.
3. Prepare the Texas Toast
•While the meat simmers, bake the Texas toast according to package instructions until golden brown.
4. Assemble & Bake
•Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly onto each slice of Texas toast.
•Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
•Place under the broiler for 1–2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
5. Serve & Enjoy
