Sausage Green Bean Potato Casserole
Ingredients:
1 lb (470 g) lean ground beef
1 refrigerated pizza crust
2 cups chopped lettuce
1 cup grated Fiesta Blend cheese
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 diced tomato, plus more for garnish
2 tablespoons unsalted melted butter
Sour cream or taco sauce for serving
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Cook the Beef
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
3. Add the chopped onion and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
4. Add the lean ground beef and cook until browned.
5. Stir in water and homemade taco seasoning, and simmer for about 7 minutes.
Step 3: Prepare the Dough
6. Transfer the parchment paper to your working surface.
7. Unroll the pizza dough on the parchment and roll it out to measure about 10×15 inches.
8. Use a pizza cutter to make 1.5-inch and 3-inch slices along the two long sides of the crust.
9. Place the ground beef mixture down the center of the dough.
10. Sprinkle 3/4 cup of the cheese over the beef, then add the diced tomato.
Step 4: Braid the Dough
11. Fold the ends of the dough up and wrap the first two slices to secure them.
12. Continue wrapping the remaining slices, overlapping them to create a braid.
13. Fold up the remaining end and wrap it around to secure the final slices.
Step 5: Bake
14. Brush the top and sides of the braid with melted butter.
15. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of cheese on top.
16. Transfer the parchment paper to the baking sheet and bake until golden, about 20 to 25 minutes.
17. Let the taco braid cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
18. Top with chopped romaine lettuce and additional diced tomatoes.
19. Serve with sour cream and taco sauce on the side.
