Sandwich Crust Garlic Rolls

With the way my grocery bills are adding up these days, I’m more conscious of my food waste than ever. I’ve found new ways to repurpose the last of my jam and peanut butter into delicious dressings, I’m making my own chicken and veggie broth, and now I’ve found the perfect solution for sandwich crusts! Yes, it would be ideal if kids just ate the whole sandwich, crust and all, but picky eaters can not always be convinced. And with these easy Sandwich Crust Garlic Rolls those crust are no longer going to waste. A win for everyone!

I’ve found it’s easiest to just start a big ziplock bag or sealable container for the crusts. Store it in the fridge and let them pile up until you have about a sandwich loaf worth or so. Take the batch of crusts and roll them into spiral shapes, fitting them snugly into the bottom of a greased muffin tin. Press them down gently with the bottom of a cup or the back of a spoon to help them hold together and maintain their shape.

Then comes the most important part: the garlic! A simple mixture of butter, garlic, seasonings, and cheese come together to transform these plain crusts into a delicious side. Pop them in the oven for about 10 minutes or until they’re beginning to turn golden in color. Serve them along your favorite pasta dish or enjoy them as a little afternoon snack. Whether you tell the kiddos they’re eating sandwich crusts is up to you!
