HONEY BAKED HAM

Honey Baked Ham

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Cooking spray
  • 8-10 lb plain fully cooked spiral sliced bone-in ham (make sure it does not already have a glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glaze:
    • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
    • Whisk in the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, pineapple juice, garlic powder, and paprika until combined.
    • Allow the mixture to cook for about 5-7 minutes until it bubbles and thickens slightly. Remove from heat; it will continue to thicken as it stands.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
    • Cover a 9″ x 13″ baking pan with plenty of foil, extending up the sides, and spray thoroughly with cooking spray.
  3. Prepare the Ham:
    • Place the ham cut side down in the prepared pan.
    • Optional: Score the ham by making shallow cuts along the top to help the glaze penetrate.
  4. Apply the Glaze:
    • Brush 1/3 of the glaze over the top of the ham.
  5. Bake the Ham:
    • Bake the ham in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 hours.
  6. Add More Glaze:
    • Increase the oven temperature to 425°F.
    • Brush the ham with half of the remaining glaze.
    • Bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Final Glaze and Broil:
    • Brush the ham with the remaining glaze.
    • Place the ham under the broiler for 3-5 minutes to allow the glaze to become sticky and caramelized.
  8. Rest and Serve:
    • Allow the ham to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
