Honey Baked Ham
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Cooking spray
- 8-10 lb plain fully cooked spiral sliced bone-in ham (make sure it does not already have a glaze)
Instructions
- Prepare the Glaze:
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Whisk in the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, pineapple juice, garlic powder, and paprika until combined.
- Allow the mixture to cook for about 5-7 minutes until it bubbles and thickens slightly. Remove from heat; it will continue to thicken as it stands.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cover a 9″ x 13″ baking pan with plenty of foil, extending up the sides, and spray thoroughly with cooking spray.
- Prepare the Ham:
- Place the ham cut side down in the prepared pan.
- Optional: Score the ham by making shallow cuts along the top to help the glaze penetrate.
- Apply the Glaze:
- Brush 1/3 of the glaze over the top of the ham.
- Bake the Ham:
- Bake the ham in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 hours.
- Add More Glaze:
- Increase the oven temperature to 425°F.
- Brush the ham with half of the remaining glaze.
- Bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Final Glaze and Broil:
- Brush the ham with the remaining glaze.
- Place the ham under the broiler for 3-5 minutes to allow the glaze to become sticky and caramelized.
- Rest and Serve:
- Allow the ham to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
