Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe
Ingredients
- 12 cabbage leaves
- 1 cup cooked white rice
- 1 egg, beaten
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup diced onion
- 1 pound extra-lean ground beef
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
For the Sauce:
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Cabbage Leaves: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Boil the cabbage leaves for 3 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- Make the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, beaten egg, milk, diced onion, ground beef, minced garlic, garlic salt, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Assemble the Rolls: Place about ¼ cup of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Roll up the leaves, tucking in the ends to secure the filling. Arrange the rolls in a large baking pan.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls.
- Bake: Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 75 minutes.
