Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe

Ingredients

  • 12 cabbage leaves
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • 1 pound extra-lean ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

For the Sauce:

  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cabbage Leaves: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Boil the cabbage leaves for 3 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, beaten egg, milk, diced onion, ground beef, minced garlic, garlic salt, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Assemble the Rolls: Place about ¼ cup of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Roll up the leaves, tucking in the ends to secure the filling. Arrange the rolls in a large baking pan.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls.
  5. Bake: Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 75 minutes.
