Creamy Brazilian Lemonade

There is nothing better than an ice cold beverage on a hot summer day, and the recipe I have for you today is about as refreshing as it gets! This Brazilian lemonade is the perfect blend of zesty, creamy, and sweet. Yes, it is made with limes and not lemons, but from my research it appears it’s called lemonade regardless! Confusing, I know. It’s a little different than the American version in that it blends the whole lime, peel and all. This gives the drink a slightly bitter edge that is then balanced by sweetened condense milk. The final results is the perfect thirst-quenching drink for a sunny afternoon!

To start things out, make sure to wash your limes thoroughly and give them a good scrub, because we’re using the full peel. Roughly chop the limes and throw half of them in you blender along with half the water and sugar. Next, run that mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the pulp. Repeat with the remaining limes and then spoon in the sweetened condensed milk to give the drink its famous creamy flavor. Feel free to add more milk to your liking.

Serve the limeade over ice for the ultimate cool and creamy treat. This drink is perfect for a summer BBQ, pool party, or a simple afternoon treat. Give the recipe a try the next time you want to shake things up, and I’m sure it will be a new fav.

INGREDIENTS

4 large limes
6 cups water
1 cup sugar
½-¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
Ice for serving

PREPARATION

Scrub limes clean with soap and a brush or rough side of a sponge. Some limes have a waxy coating, you want to make sure this is scrubbed off because we’re using the peel.
Cut off the ends of all 4 limes and then roughly chop, leaving the peel on.
Add half the limes, half the water ,and half the sugar to a blender or large food processor. Blend for about 10-15 seconds.
Using a mesh strainer, strain the blended mixture into a pitcher. Discard the strained pulp.
Repeat process with the second half of the ingredients.
Once the second round is complete, stir the sweetened condensed milk into the pitcher until smooth.
Adjust sweetness to personal preference and serve over ice.
