Chocolate Ooey Gooey Cake
Ingredients
For the Cake Layer:
1 box chocolate cake mix
1 egg
½ cup butter, melted
For the Filling:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup butter, melted
16 oz powdered sugar
¼ cup cocoa powder
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
2️⃣ Make the cake layer: In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, egg, and melted butter. Stir until the mixture is fully combined. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the base layer.
3️⃣ Prepare the filling: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until well incorporated. Next, add the melted butter, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder. Mix until everything is well combined and smooth.
4️⃣ Pour the filling over the cake layer: Pour the prepared filling mixture evenly over the chocolate cake layer in the pan. Do not stir; the filling will settle on its own while baking.
5️⃣ Bake the cake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the top is set and lightly golden. The center should still be a bit soft and gooey, which is the signature of this cake.
6️⃣ Cool and serve: Allow the cake to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Slice into squares and enjoy the indulgent, ooey-gooey chocolate goodness!
